What is a group of cougars called?

Unlike other large cat species, such as lions forming prides, cougars do not form groups because they are solitary animals. Individual cougars are also commonly referred to as mountain lions, pumas, panthers and catamounts.

Though their populations have dwindled, cougars range from Northern Canada all the way to the southern regions of South America. Adult cougars only come into contact with other cougars for breeding purposes or territory disputes. Female cougars breed every two to three years and have litters of one to six kittens. The mothers are very protective of their young and remain with them for the first two years of their lives.
