How do you grow Persian cucumber seeds?

Grow Persian cucumber seeds by planting them in an area that gets full sun exposure and has well-drained soil that is rich in organic materials such as compost. Water the area once or twice weekly, depending on rainfall.

1. Time the planting to avoid frost damage

   Start Persian cucumber seeds by planting them and keeping them indoors for approximately three or four weeks before transplanting outside. Alternatively, sow the seeds directly into the ground at least two weeks after the last frost date, only once the soil is at least 65 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. Plant the Persian cucumber seeds

   Till the ground 6 to 8 inches deep and mix in 2 inches of compost or aged manure. Plant the seeds 1 inch deep and 6 to 10 inches apart. When transplanting Persian cucumber seedlings, space the plants 12 inches apart in holes as deep as the seedlings' containers.

3. Add support for the plants

   Grow cucumbers on a trellis, or add a layer of straw or hay to the ground once the plants begin growing. Preventing cucumbers from resting directly on the ground minimizes diseases and rot.
