According to Mayo Clinic, H1N1 is also referred to as the swine flu. H1N1 is a strain of influenza transmitted from pigs to people. The first case of H1N1 was noticed in 2009.
Symptoms of H1N1 in humans may include diarrhea, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, headache, runny nose, sore throat, chills or body aches, states Mayo Clinic. The development of these symptoms begins about one to three days following exposure to the virus, and they may continue for approximately a week. Swine farmers and veterinarians are the most likely groups of people to develop true swine flu due to their exposure to pigs. H1N1 flu treatment typically only includes symptom relief.
