What happened to the pilot from "Ax Men" TV show?

On Sept. 16, 2013, “Ax-Men” helicopter pilot and R&R Conner Aviation, LLC Chief Pilot William Bart Colantuono was killed in a helicopter crash while helicopter logging. Colantuono appeared on seasons two and three of the History Channel series.

Colantuono had over 30 years of aviation experience and flew a variety of helicopters, ranging from Huey’s to CH-47s. A U.S. Navy veteran, Colantuono earned a degree in foreign relations and served as an instructor and mentor to young pilots before his death.

On “Ax-Men,” Colantuono was tasked with removing cut trees from remote logging areas using cables attached to the helicopter. He was working at a logging site in Oregon at the time of his death.
