Is it hard to make a raised garden box?

A wood-constructed raised garden box is a relatively easy project for do-it-yourselfers with experience using a drill. Circular saw skill is optional because most home improvement and lumberyards can cut wood to size.
Standard raised beds are 4 by 8 feet and 8 to 12 inches deep depending on whether the plants are shallow or deep rooting. An 8-inch deep, 4-by-8-foot raised garden box requires four 8-foot two-by-fours, four 4-foot two-by-fours and four 8-inch 4-by-4 posts for corner bracing. To put the box together, builders screw planks flush to the 4-by-4 corner braces using 3 1/2-inch deck screws. The box should be level before filling it with soil.
