Is a fever present with a sinus infection?

According to WebMD, fever is a possible symptom of acute sinusitis, which is a blockage of the sinuses caused by fluids and infectious agents, such as bacteria, viruses or fungi. Sinus blockage is usually caused by conditions such as the common cold, nasal polyps, allergic rhinitis or a deviated septum.

WebMD adds that typical symptoms of acute sinusitis include pain and sensation of pressure in the face, nasal blockage and discharge, coughing and loss of a sense of smell. Less common symptoms, in addition to fever, are bad breath, dental pain and fatigue. Acute sinusitis typically lasts less than four weeks, while chronic sinusitis lasts more than eight weeks.
