Is rice acceptable on a Paleo diet?

Rice is not part of the paleo diet. The paleo diet, referring to the Paleolithic period of 10,000 years ago, focuses on the consumption of meat, poultry, fish, fruits and vegetables.
The paleo diet is based on the premise that if the cavemen did not eat something, then neither should you. Because rice is a grain that is processed before consumption, it was likely not a staple of the Paleolithic diet. According to U.S. News & World Report, paleo advocates argue that grains and refined carbohydrates are the source of many ailments. However, subtracting grains from your diet also removes key nutrients.
