What heart rate range is considered normal for women?

A normal resting heart rate for both men and women is 60 to 100 beats per minute, advises Mayo Clinic. Readings of more than 100 or less than 60 beats per minute may indicate an underlying medical issue. Physical fitness, emotions and body size can affect heart rate.
To determine heart rate, place two fingers on the wrist where the radial artery is located and count the number of times the artery pulses within one minute, notes Mayo Clinic. Using the same technique on the side of the windpipe measures pulse as well. Counting the number of beats for 15 seconds and multiplying by four is a faster way to check the pulse.
