A hernia of the ureter, which is the tube connecting the kidney and the urinary bladder, is called a ureterocele. This hernia develops when the ureter isn't wide enough to allow normal urine flow. A ureterocele usually develops close to the bladder.
The urinary system removes waste from the body. It is made up of two kidneys, two ureters and the urethra, which carries urine from the bladder out of the body. A uretral obstruction happens when any of the tubes connecting the kidneys and the bladder become blocked. Such obstructions can result from recent cancer surgery, conditions that develop at birth or the body's tendency to create kidney stones.
