What is Hibiclens used for?

Also referred to as chlorhexidine topical, Hibiclens is an antiseptic and a cleanser that is used for killing germs and bacteria. It is used on the skin to kill bacteria that may cause infection due to an injury or surgery.
People who are allergic to the drug are advised not to use Hibiclens. It is not known whether it may cause harm to breastfeeding and pregnant women, but it is wise to discuss with a doctor prior to using this drug. Hibiclens may have several side effects, including skin irritation, hives, severe burning, swelling and blistering, as stated by Drugs.com.
