What is high ferritin?

For males, it is between 12 and 300 nanograms per milliliter, while for females it is between 12 and 150 nanograms per milliliter. Lower levels than these values can be caused by heavy menstrual bleeding, poor absorption of iron in the intestine or iron deficiency anemia.
