One of the most popular places where shoppers can buy Confederate coins is from private sellers on the auction site eBay. Another popular website is U.S. Rare Coin Investments.

The first Confederate coins were developed in 1861 by Robert Lovett in Philadelphia. He was commissioned by the CSA to produce the 1 cent piece, and he used the Liberty Head as a template. He made the first coins with nickel, and there were only a few samples produced. The vast majority of original Confederate coins are now unavailable as of 2015, and the market is filled with two existing types: restrikes and replicas, the latter of which is worth little.
