Polyester fibers are used for clothing, carpet and upholstery fabric. Because it is a delicate fiber, polyester is often blended with a stronger fiber, such as cotton, to increase its durability. Pure polyester clothing, carpet and upholstery items tend to wear out quickly. Polyester is easy to clean, but it tends to bond quickly with oil-based spills, so if not removed quickly, the stains can become permanent or very hard to remove.
