The most common two types of glass used in glass window hangings are cathedral glass and opalescent glass. Cathedral glass is a transparent single-color glass with a smooth surface, while opalescent glass is opaque and can contain multiple colors. Both glass types are versatile and easy to work with.
Both cathedral and opalescent glass are known as 'rolled' glass and are made by rolling out molten glass on a table. Glass window hangings often also contain 'blown' glass, created by blowing air into molten glass. Types of blown glass used in window hangings are cylinder glass, crown glass and flashed glass. Most glass window hangings are made from a mixture of different glass types.
