What is the theme of the water and fire game?

In "Fireboy and Watergirl: 1," Fireboy and Watergirl have to go through obstacles and levels to find their way out of the forest temple. "Fireboy and Watergirl" is a collaborative game in which the two players must work together to find solutions for each room in the forest temple.

Fireboy dies if he steps in water, and Watergirl dies if she touches lava. However, Fireboy and Watergirl can help each other accomplish various tasks by pushing buttons to open doors. In addition to the forest temple, Fireboy and Watergirl can also travel through the light temple, the forest temple again, the ice temple and the crystal temple in subsequent games.
