Can a family be adopted for Christmas?

Adopting a family for Christmas is a fairly easy process that generally involves contacting the local Salvation Army branch. Once signed up, sponsors are given a gift guide that offers them a bigger picture of the adopted family's needs so that they can plan accordingly.
In general, the Salvation Army asks sponsor families to buy two or more new gifts for each adopted household member, as well as food that will last for 4 to 7 days, including holiday meal fixings. Some sponsors also pay for clothing and household items as well as heating or energy costs in addition to gifts and food.
