What are natural gas trucks?

Natural gas trucks are trucks that use natural gas for fuel instead of gasoline or diesel fuel. They have engines that are similar to traditional gasoline-powered engines except for being powered by a special compressed natural gas fuel delivery system.

A few mainstream truck manufacturers offer models powered by natural gas. Conversion kits are available to convert traditional models to natural gas fuel systems. Another option is a combined natural gas and hydrogen-fueled engine. Natural gas fueled trucks have cleaner emissions than gasoline-powered models, which leads to longer lasting engines. They require less frequent oil changes because the engine oil stays cleaner.
