What are some home remedies for scabs?

Scabs often heal on their own as long as an infection or reinjury does not occur to the affected area, according to WebMD. Individuals should protect the scab at home by avoiding rubbing, picking or scraping the scab off to allow for natural healing.
A rubbed off, picked or cracked scab exposes the wound to dirt and debris and may produce bleeding or oozing of a yellow or pink fluid, which requires bandaging and ultimately delays the healing process, explains WebMD. Scabs that are dry and allowed to heal on their own typically shrink in size and fall off once new skin grows at the site of the wound.
