What is homeowners insurance for pit bulls?

Homeowner's insurance policies often provide liability insurance, including coverage for dog bites. Several insurance companies refuse to cover dogs such as pit bulls or American Staffordshire terriers, but policies are available from companies such as the Einhorn Insurance Agency.
Pit bulls are blacklisted on the grounds that they present a higher risk for a bite claim than most dog breeds. Other blacklisted breeds include German shepherds, malamutes, huskies, and Doberman pinschers.
Insurance policies vary between companies and even between agents at a single company. Insurance companies that generally do not blacklist dog types include State Farm, Farmers' Insurance Group and the Chubb Group.
