What are Honda diagnostic codes?

All Honda vehicles have diagnostic codes associated with a particular problem or malfunction. The list of these codes if fairly exhaustive, but checking the codes requires a special scanning device.

There are dozens of diagnostic codes that a Honda may report, ranging from low input on a particular turning indicator to a spark plug voltage failure. Each diagnostic code for Honda vehicles begins with the letter P and is followed by a four-digit number, starting with P1106 and running through to P1795 (though not all numbers are included in the series). To find diagnostic codes, mechanics must use a special 16-pin data link connector tool.
