What is the horsepower rating of a 351 Cleveland engine?
By Forinfos - 13/04/2026 - 0 comments
Ford 351 Cleveland engines typically produce around 250 bhp in stock form, but are capable of over 700 bhp when fully tuned. No exact figure is possible, because Ford produced a wide variety of engines based on the Cleveland 351 design.
Ford manufactured the 351 Cleveland engine series for four years between 1970 and 1974. Five main versions of the 351 Cleveland were produced: the H-, M- and Q-code engines, plus two rare R variants. H code engines feature a simple two-Venturi carburetor setup, while the other versions have a four-barrel carburetor. The most powerful stock 351 is the R-code Boss 351 fitted to some 1971 model year Mustangs, producing around 330 bhp.
