Sam Ross opened his first salon in July of 1974 in Memphis, Tennessee. As business picked up, Ross began franchising his salon in 1976. As of 2015, Fantastic Sams has over 1,200 salons throughout the United States and Canada. Ross passed away due to pneumonia in July of 2010, but his legacy continues to grow. Fantastic Sam's was ranked 52 on Entrepreneur.com's Franchise 500 list in 2015.
