Common household items like chalk, talcum powder, vinegar and tape are all effective in killing or removing ants. Mix together soap and water and spray it in where ants congregate to break down waxy layers of the ant exoskeleton. Sprinkle pepper into an ant colony to disrupt the colony.
Ants cannot digest cornmeal. Sprinkle cornmeal over affected areas to kill ants.
Chalk containing calcium carbonate repels ants. Draw a line around home entry points or scatter powdered chalk around items to protect them from ants.
Place adhesive tape sticky side up around an item that attracts ants. Ants do not cross over most adhesives.
