Before conducting a search on Rent.com, users must select the Homes option listed on the Property Type filter. Users can also search for specific amenities, such as air conditioning, balcony, dishwasher, extra storage and pool.

When searching for rental homes on Craigslist, users simply click on the Apts/Housing link located under Housing. As of 2015, Craigslist also lets users filter their searches for only houses, duplexes or townhouses.
