Hunter fan parts are manufactured in Memphis, Tennessee. The company was founded in 1886 by John and James C. Hunter, a father and son team credited with inventing the ceiling fan. By 2009, the company had offices in three countries and the fans were sold through retailers worldwide.
The corporate headquarters, as well as the manufacturing plant and research and development offices, remain in Memphis. The firm moved from Fulton, New York, to Memphis in 1946, just after World War II. During that war, Hunter manufactured exhaust fans, ceiling fans and parts for the U.S. Navy's ships and for U.S. Army hospitals at home and abroad.
