What is a hybrid car?

A hybrid car is a car that uses two or more sources of power. The most common type of hybrid car is the gasoline-electric hybrid car, which is powered by a gasoline engine and an electric motor.
There are two main types of gasoline-electric hybrids cars: parallel and series hybrid cars. In a parallel hybrid car, both the internal combustion engine and electric motor are connected to the transmission and can drive the transmission either individually or together. In a series hybrid car, the gasoline engine is not directly connected to the transmission. Instead, it is connected to a generator that produces electric power and drives the motor, which in turn drives the transmission.
