Hydrocortisone valerate cream is used to reduce the swelling, itching and redness associated with skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, allergies and rashes. Hydrocortisone valerate cream is a corticosteroid that is formulated for use on the skin only.

Before applying hydrocortisone valerate cream, thoroughly clean and dry the affected area. A thin layer of cream should be gently rubbed in two to three times daily or as directed by a doctor. Bandaging, covering or wrapping the affected area is not advised. Unless specifically directed by a doctor, hydrocortisone valerate cream is not recommended for use on the face, groin or underarms.
