Ideal body measurements for women have become smaller over the past century, with more of a focus on toned abs and sculpted legs. Exact measurements are dependant on a woman's height and body shape.
At the turn of the 20th century, tall women with relatively narrow waists and relatively wide chests and hips were seen as ideal. Women could achieve a similar look by wearing corsets and high heels. A curvy, hourglass figure was largely seen as the most attractive body type for the first half of the 1900s.
In the 1960s, a slim-figured model named Twiggy rose to prominence in the English-speaking world, leading the general public to see slender figures as the ideal shape for women. Later, throughout the 1970s and 80s, a more toned, athletic body was favored.
