Bob Lobel suffers from spinal stenosis, which, as of 2015, makes him unable to walk without using crutches for support. His condition requires him to use special equipment while playing golf, a cart that swivels him toward a golf ball after lifting him.

Prior to his release from his position in 2008, Bob Lobel served as a sportscaster for Boston's WBZ-TV and was primarily a sports anchor between Sunday and Thursday for evening newscasts. Bob Lobel was also the host of two weekly sports programs, "Patriots 5th Quarter" and "Sports Final." He continues to work in various capacities within radio broadcasting.
