Important events, such as Calvin Coolidge becoming the first president to make an inaugural broadcast, and Benito Mussolini declaring that he was taking over Italy and ending free elections, happened in 1925. In the same year, "Mein Kampf" by Adolf Hitler was published.
The following also happened in 1925. "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald was published, and the movie "Phantom of the Opera" was released. The Scopes Monkey Trial came to an end, and the substitute teacher, John Scopes, was found guilty of violating the Butler Act. The verdict declared it illegal to teach evolution in schools. John Logie Baird invented a TV transmitter, and Richard G. Drew invented Scotch Tape.
