Who influenced Thomas Jefferson?

Thomas Jefferson was influenced by Professor William Small when he took classes at the College of William and Mary. Jefferson was also influenced by other teachers at the college, including George Wythe, a professor of legal studies.

Jefferson was very well read, and he graduated from law school as one of the most well-read lawyers to pass the Virginia bar exam. Several men in Jefferson's life also helped influence and enlighten his appreciation of the arts, including William Byrd, John Page and Lieutenant Governor Francis Fauquier. They also helped him learn to appreciate fine wine and landscaped gardens and develop his love of science.
