Air conditioning unit diagrams usually show the wiring of the outdoor and indoor sections of the unit and are displayed on stickers on most units. There are three main types of diagrams, including the installation diagram, the ladder diagram and the line diagram.

Installation diagrams show the correct terminal board wiring for installing the units, while ladder diagrams show the wiring schematics and include factory, field and ground wiring. Line diagrams display the locations and wiring of the capacitor, compressor, fan motors and circuit breaker.
