Though it varies by state, most Secretaries of State maintain election resources, including candidate information, on the agency's website. Local and state newspapers also typically publish a great deal of information regarding candidates for the Office of the Governor.

For the 2012 General Election, the California Secretary of State published a Voter Information Guide online at SOS.CA.Gov, which included information about the Office of Governor in that state and provided candidate statements from each party, informing voters about his or her candidacy.

The Clarion-Ledger, a major newspaper in Jackson, Mississippi, published a Voter's Guide for the 2015 elections before the primary took place on August 5th. This voter guide listed candidates for Governor by party affiliation and also included information regarding each candidate's qualifications, priorities and answers to various questions, including a position on Medicaid expansion in the state.
