What are the ingredients in whole milk?

Whole milk contains water, lactose, fat, protein, minerals, vitamins and enzymes. It's high in calcium and phosphates. Most whole milk also contains added Vitamin A and D.

Whole milk is made from raw milk that comes from healthy cows. It is pasteurized or heat treated to kill bacteria. Then, some of the cream on top of the milk is removed. The rest is homogenized to give it a consistent texture and keep any remaining cream from separating. Whole milk has 3.25 percent cream, also called milk fat. Milk also comes in 2 percent, 1 percent or skim versions. Skim milk is often called fat free because it only contains about 0.1 percent fat.
