How do you install Windows XP Mode?

To install Windows XP Mode, you need to download it from the Microsoft Download Center and make sure that you meet the minimum requirements. As a prerequisite, you need to download and install Windows Virtual PC, which allows Windows 7 to run virtual operating systems.

1. Download and install Windows Virtual PC

   Use your Web browser to navigate to the Windows Virtual PC page in the Microsoft Download Center, select the desired language and then left-click on the Download button. Check the boxes next to the file that is appropriate for your operating system (x86 for 32-bit and x64 for 64-bit) and then left-click on the Next button. Once the download is completed, left-click on the downloaded file, and select the Yes option once the update prompt pops up. After the installation is finished, reboot your computer.

2. Download Windows XP Mode

   Navigate to the Windows XP Mode page in the Microsoft Download Center via your Web browser, and left-click on the Download button once you have selected the desired language. Check the box next to the WindowsXPMode_en-us.exe file, and then left-click on the Next button.

3. Complete the Windows XP Mode installation

   Once the download is completed, double-click on the WindowsXPMode_en-us.exe file, and follow the install wizard instructions by selecting the desired destination folder and left-clicking on the Next button. After the installation is completed, left-click on the Finish button.
