An intake coordinator's job is to admit patients into the health care facility. The job requires employees to interact directly with patients.
The intake coordinator often works at the front desk at a facility. This person does the necessary paperwork or computer work involved in checking patients in for appointments and procedures. The exact duties vary depending on the employer. Some intake coordinators manage paperwork, file insurance forms and set future appointments for patients. He or she may also be required to answer phones, answer patient questions and do other tasks related to clerical work. The hours required for an intake coordinator vary as well.
