One of the most interesting facts about Alaska is that it contains 17 out of the top 20 tallest mountain peaks in the entire United States. The highest peak, which is Mt. McKinley, stands 20,320 feet above sea level and is commonly referred to as "Denali" or "The Great."
Alaska is also home to around 100,000 glaciers of all shapes and sizes, with some being small and round and others being in the form of massive valleys. Out of the entire state, 29,000 square miles or about 5 percent are covered in glaciers, with the largest being Malaspina, which covers a total of 850 square miles.
