What are some interesting facts about strawberries?

Strawberries technically aren't true berries because a berry has its seeds on the inside. Strawberries are embellished with about 200 seeds and are the only fruit to wear these seeds on the outside. Botanists actually consider each adorning seed to be its own distinct fruit.
When picked, strawberries still have part of the stem intact; however, to store them, it is best to wash them and cut the stem off. Strawberries are bright red and sweet when ripe, but unlike other fruits, they don't continue to ripen once they've been picked. If a strawberry is picked when unripe, it can be pickled.
