Also known as painful bladder syndrome, interstitial cystitis is a bladder health condition characterized by pain and pressure in the bladder. A person with this condition usually experiences increased urgency of urination.
Women suffering from interstitial cystitis tend to experience more pain during their menstrual periods. Men experience pain during ejaculations. Also, a person may feel pain in the pelvic area. As of 2014, there is no effective treatment that can treat this condition but there are some medications that provide relief, as stated by WebMD. Symptoms may disappear after some time, but the condition may return again after about 8 months.
