Who invented the globe?

The first globe model was invented by Nicholas Copernicus, though there is no date recorded for this event. Copernicus created many globes to demonstrate his ideas of a solar system where round-shaped planets orbited a central sun.
While Copernicus is the person attributed with the invention of the globe, the first ever historically recorded globe was made by a German map-maker named Martin Behaim in 1492. The globe as a mini representation of the Earth emerged as ideas regarding the shape of the Earth began changing during the 15th century. Prior to 1450, the flat-Earth theory was prevalent in Western society.
