Who invented hip hop?

No one person is credited with creating this style of music, but instead credit is given to the Bronx during the late 1970s. Many artists were key in getting this type of music out to the world including DJ Kool Herc, who is often credited with helping bring the art style to the fore of the culture.

DJ Kool Herc, or Clive Campbell, was one of the first to focus more on the "breaks" in music, or the drum beats, rather than the rest of the music. MC's began to add lyrics to this type of music, which slowly became known to the world as what we call "rap" today.
