What are some jobs in the auto racing industry?

Racecar drivers, mechanical engineers, auto body repair specialists, mechanics and service technicians are job positions within the auto racing industry. The driver operates the racecar, and the other positions form the racing pit crew.

Mechanical engineers create and test designs for body and interior components of race cars. Fabricators, painters and body hangers comprise the auto body team that builds and repairs a car's exterior, while mechanics service its engine and other respective mechanical parts.

Tire changers, windshield washers and those who service gasoline fill-ups round out the racecar pit crew. Managerial positions are also part of the auto racing industry.
