Jojoba oil is from a plant that thrives in the dry regions of Northern Mexico and the Southwestern United States. The Jojoba plant is harvested for its seeds, which contain oil and wax compounds.
Jojoba oil and jojoba wax are commonly applied directly to the skin to treat minor skin ailments, such as dry skin, acne, sunburn and sometimes baldness. Jojoba oil is considered a supplement or vitamin by the FDA. It is classified as an emollient, which simply means that it is a moisturizer. Some individuals believe that jojoba oil is capable of unclogging hair follicles, promoting hair growth.
