Before working in television, Joy Bauer worked as the Director of Nutrition and Fitness for the "Heart-Smart Kids Program" at The Mount Sinai Medical Center's Department of Pediatric Cardiology in New York City. She also worked at the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center as a nutrition consultant.

Joy Bauer is the CEO and founder of Joy Bauer Nutrition and the author of several cookbooks and diet books. Her book, "Joy's LIFE Diet," reached number one on the New York Times Bestseller Paperback How To List. Joy has worked on the television networks NBC and PBS and as nutritionist for the New York City Ballet.
