Juniper oil is an essential oil that is extracted from the berries of the juniper tree. According to WebMD, juniper oil is used to treat a variety of health conditions.
Juniper oil is used to treat digestive issues, including bloating, gas, heartburn, upset stomach and loss of appetite, although WebMD states there is insufficient evidence to prove that the product is effective as a treatment for any of these conditions. There is also insufficient evidence that juniper oil treats urinary tract infections, kidney stones or skin wounds.
Many cosmetics and soaps include juniper oil for its fragrance. Some foods and beverages also contain juniper oil, which adds flavor.
