K1 kerosene prices fluctuate, and prices typically increase from mid-October to late March when the demand for home heating oil is at its highest. To receive lower kerosene prices, homeowners may want to buy kerosene in the summer or early fall when prices are relatively lower due to reduced demand.

According to the New York Home Kerosene Price Monitoring Program, kerosene prices in New York state are $3.68 per gallon as of March 2015. This represents a 19.6 percent decrease from the average price of $4.58 per gallon in March of 2014.

Between 2008 and 2012, however, kerosene prices rose nationwide, and as a result, residential kerosene sales fell by 28 percent over a six-year period ending in 2013.
