How do you keep spiders away?

To keep spiders away, rub lemon on entry points, remove all webs, seal entryways and put essential oils in infested areas. Getting rid of spiders is not usually difficult unless there is a large infestation.

1. Cover entrance points with lemon

   Citrus scents drive away spiders. Cut a lemon in half, and rub the inside of the lemon on window ledges, door frames, cracks, crevices and anywhere spiders can enter the home.

2. Remove spider webs

   If you notice spider webs, eliminate them to discourage spiders from returning. Use a vacuum or a broom to remove spider webs.

3. Seal entryways

   In addition to coating entry points with lemon, use caulk or sealer to fill in any cracks and crevices. Install door sweeps on the bottom of doors.

4. Remove food sources

   Spiders are attracted to areas with insects. Discourage insects by sealing compost bins and storing food properly. Avoid outdoor lighting, if possible, and use a power washer or strong hose to remove any outdoor insect nests on the home.

5. Drive spiders away with essential oils

   Spiders do not like the scent of rosemary, peppermint, garlic, cedar, cinnamon, clove and lemon essential oils, so place a few drops of these oils in infested areas to drive them away.
