Kinkajous make excellent pets when provided with the right care. Their affectionate and gentle nature makes them a popular pet choice among exotic animal lovers.
A large cage with plenty of climbing spaces is essential to accommodate kinkajous, since they are native climbers in their rainforest home. Nocturnal and extremely active, kinkajous do best with owners who provide them with adequate attention. Exercise is important, and kinkajous should be let out to play for several hours each day. Also known as the "honey bear," the kinkajou requires daily fresh fruits and vegetables. Dates, fig bars, graham crackers and raisins may be given as treats.
