What is lamination?

Lamination involves making a product by joining together two or more thin layers of film, paper or aluminium foil using a bonding agent. The layers are joined using heat and pressure.
The most common use of lamination in an office involves laminated printing. This is where a sheet of printed card stock or paper is placed inside a clear plastic pocket. This is then pulled through a hot laminating machine by its rollers. The plastic film in the pocket heats until it is near the melting point and the pressure of the rollers causes it to attach to the printed material. The end product looks glossy and it is more durable than the original printed sheet.
