Armenian people speak Armenian. Armenian seems to occupy a unique branch of the language family known as Indo-European, though it is sometimes categorized with Greek and other Balkan languages into a separate subgroup.
Armenian is spoken as the official language of the country of Armenia, and is widely spoken by Armenians who live throughout the world. Within Armenia there are small minorities of Yazidis, who speak a dialect of Kurdish, and Russians. Armenian has its own script, and is divided into two distinct dialects, Eastern and Western Armenian. The two dialects are mostly mutually intelligible, though the Eastern version is the official written language of the country.
